Porcelana comes from the southwest of Lake Maracaibo in Venezuela and is considered the purest expression of Criollo cocoa.
This is one of the finest and most valuable cocoa in the world today. The name is derived from the white, almost translucent color of the cocoa beans when they are ripe.
Porcelana is fragile, very sensitive to diseases and pests and has almost disappeared. The variety was replaced by less demanding and more profitable plants. It is extremely rare today.
The extreme delicacy, the perfect harmony and the sweetness make it the holy grail of connoisseurs.
