Ulrika and Frederik were so fascinated by the variety of flavors in good chocolate that they left their full-time jobs behind and embarked on voyages of discovery. They were looking for extraordinary cocoa beans, which they found after long boat trips in Peru or complicated trips through Tanzania. Back in Sweden they bought an old abandoned school in the country and founded Svenska Kakaobolaget (translated “The Swedish Cocoa Company”). They have been making Bean to Bar chocolate bars here since 2013.
They are only interested in the extraordinary taste experiences that arise when cocoa is allowed to develop its own taste. So their starting point is always excellent cocoa. In order to preserve the natural flavors, they roast the beans very slowly in small batches and reduce the ingredients to an absolute minimum: cocoa and sugar only. In 2018, two of their chocolate bars won prizes at the International Chocolate Awards.
